Chris Cummins, LMFT, LCADC, ACS
Director of Clinical Services
Chris Cummins is passionate about providing trauma-informed, compassionate, and high-quality clinical care. He was born and raised nearby in Las Vegas, NV where he was Chief Clinical Officer for Nevada’s largest drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. Chris also developed the clinical services for a non-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to helping individuals experiencing homelessness access substance abuse treatment, mental health treatment, psychiatry, and housing. Chris is formally trained in Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and is proficient in the best practices of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).
Chris received his Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from University of Nevada – Las Vegas, specializing in Addictions Treatment and Family Studies. After, he graduated from Regis University with his Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Chris understands that family has a significant impact on recovery from addiction. To maximize the effectiveness of his work with families, Chris developed a case management system called the Family Tiered System of Supports (FTSS) which he presented at a National Family Engagement and Cultural Effectiveness Conference. The FTSS model is now used around the country at various behavioral health and family services programs. As an innovator in mental health treatment and family services, Chris was awarded the “Visionary of the Year Award” by Jefferson County Human Services. Chris is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), and a Candidate for AAMFT Supervisor. Most significantly, Chris is the new Director of Clinical Services for Sierra by the Sea.
