Sonny Cook, ACSW

Sonny Cook has spent over three decade working with duel diagnosis clients and their families in multiple treatment settings for both state and county licensed facilities. Sonny’s has worked as caseworker in state regulated detention settings for court remanded juvenile offenders in the state of California. In 2004, Sonny transition into the role of a probation officer for Riverside County’s South West Division. There he was able to get first-hand experience with the Justice system, detentions settings, and court mandated services. As a Probation Officer Sonny maintained a duel role of both of a sworn peace officer and counselor to court sentenced offenders and their families. In 2006 Sonny transitioned to a duel diagnosis treatment setting where he spent ten years as program director for court placed clients and their family for evidence based treatment and assessment. After over a decade worth of ground breaking work with marginalized individuals Sonny made the choice to return back to school and earn his MSW from the University of Southern California. While attending USC, Sonny was an intern for the Savanah school district. Out of the Santa Ana Riverbed to the motels on Beach Blvd provided solution based intervention for school age children from ages six to fifteen. During his time intern for the Savanna school district Sonny was recruited by Child Protective Services of Orange County in the Emergency Response Division. During his tenure at Emergency Response he provided crisis focus intervention throughout Orange County. These interventions primarily focused on CSEC (commercially sexual exploited Children) domestic violence, felony substance abuse, and severe trauma referrals.
