Please note that for the safety of our patients, their families, and our staff, there are certain restrictions in place regarding on-site visitation at Sierra by the Sea.

  • These restrictions have been implemented in compliance with updated corporate and state regulations to further reduce the risks associated with COVID-19.
  • Options for telehealth visitation are continuously evaluated so that our patients can remain connected to their loved ones.
  • Alternate methods of communication for other services may be offered when deemed clinically appropriate.

Sierra by the Sea offers a gender-specific residential program for women who have been struggling with substance use disorders and certain co-occurring mental health conditions. Understanding the residential program for adult women at Sierra by the Sea in Newport Beach, CA

The gender-specific residential program at Sierra by the Sea provides a supportive setting in which adult women can receive the individualized attention they need to recover from substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.

Some of the women at our facility may have received care through a partial hospitalization program (PHP), intensive outpatient program (IOP), or standard outpatient program. Each of these are lower levels of care that provide therapy while allowing women to live in the community. Our residential program in Newport Beach, California, is designed to offer more focused care for women who wish to receive concentrated therapeutic services while benefiting from 24/7 medical care.

Our dedicated admissions coordinators will complete a thorough interview to learn about your medical history, expectations from our program, and your health goals. Once we have the information we need, our admissions team will work closely with you to identify your personal needs and determine whether you are a good fit for Sierra by the Sea’s residential program.

What to expect during the residential program for adult women at Sierra by the Sea in Newport Beach, CA

At our residential facility in Newport Beach, California, we are proud to offer a range of integrative and holistic modalities, such as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), therapeutic massage, acupuncture, and somatic experiencing.

Our therapeutic programming incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and the principles of the 12-Step Recovery Model.

Depending upon your specific needs, your treatment at Sierra by the Sea may include the following services:

Residential Program for Women Admissions Criteria

At Sierra by the Sea, we strive to provide a warm and supportive environment for each woman in our residential program. We serve women age 18 and older who have been living with primary substance use disorders, which is the clinical term for addiction. Our gender-specific care is available to women who are struggling with conditions such as the following:

  • Benzodiazepine use disorder
  • Opioid use disorder
  • Alcohol use disorder
  • Cocaine use disorder
  • Methamphetamine use disorder
  • Heroin use disorder

When mental health conditions are present alongside substance use disorder, they are known as co-occurring conditions. In addition to providing programming for substance use disorders, Sierra by the Sea also offers comprehensive therapeutic services for adult women whose substance use disorders are accompanied by co-occurring conditions such as the following:

  • Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Eating disorders
  • Depression

Please note that we are unable to provide residential care for women who are struggling with active suicidal thoughts, have an elevated risk for suicide attempts, or have been experiencing symptoms that are best addressed via inpatient care.
